In its early days, the Society classified Sues and Stus from Levels 1-8 to differentiate the gaps in power that Sues and Stus had. However, this system became quickly dated as more and more powerful Sues and Stus with more and more unique abilities began to show up, blurring the lines between who was the strongest and who was not.
As such, Phoenixia created a modified, more detailed version of the original system so that Agents would have a better idea of what they were up against, and thus what force they needed to take, instead of relying on an estimate of how powerful a Sue or Stu really was. The Levels now go from 1-10, and include lists of the strength of Sues' various powers at each level and recommendations for how to engage them.
If a Sue gains or loses enough power, their level can and will be revised appropriately. Merle Ravensclaw has been assigned two Sue Level ranks, seven for daytime and eight for the night and during full moon, because of how her powers relate to these times.
Any Sues prior to April 18, 2010 will use the old 1-8 system while ones after will use the new 1-10. The conversion between the old and new system can be calculated by the equations X*1.25, or X*10/8, and rounding appropriately.
Levels[edit | edit source]
The system is something that is required to be studied and memorised by all members of The Anti-Cliché and Mary-Sue Elimination Society, both to have an idea of their duty, and more importantly, for their own safety.
Level 1[edit | edit source]
These Sues and Stus will always appear cute and/or quite pretty, regardless of what they are wearing. They can be persuasive, as people will not dismiss any idea or suggestion that the Sue says immediately, though it will take some effort on their part to get a 100% agreement by canon characters, and generally they can only manipulate one character at time. Plothole-jumping between fandoms and in a fandom is a natural skill to them. When acquiring weapon skills/powers, they have a strong natural talent for whatever ones they desire, but still must train to achieve any level of competency. Many don't bother. The Sues and Stus are pretty much cannon fodder and even a rookie should have no trouble taking them down.
Some technical Level 1 Sues are regarded more as allies than adversaries.
Level 2[edit | edit source]
Like the Level below, they can still use Plothole powers and are more persuasive, generally able to more or less keep around two or three (depending on their importance to the fandom in question) canon characters under their spell and the rest tend to look favorably, if not just very tolerantly. They can instantly have one skill or weapon mastered upon their arrival in a fandom, though it will not be any of strongest powers or skills available in said fandom. These Sues and Stus make perfect training for rookie Agents and are barely worth a competent Agent’s time.
Level 3[edit | edit source]
They are capable of all Plothole-related skills and can master one or two weapons or powers in a fandom with great competency and have skills in a variety of others. At this level, their cuteness is very high and people take notice even if they’re just walking down the street. People are more inclined to trust them instinctively and at least one or two or so canon characters will be completely under their spell, while true main characters will trust them and accept them, but cannot be directly controlled. At this stage, they can start affecting canon romances, causing partners to doubt themselves and each other as the Sue start hinting what they think who would be a better match. These Sues and Stus should be confronted by pairs of rookie Agents, otherwise a competent Agent will have no trouble at all dealing with them.
Level 4[edit | edit source]
Capable of all Plothole-related skills, and can have a mastery of a single weapon/skill/power and competency in any ‘super-skills’ available to the fandom, if possible. Cuteness is giving way to true beauty and as such, they can influence a broader range of characters, though direct control of a main character is out of their grasp still. They can fiddle with canon pairings more, causing them to break up and find new partners more easily (save for the Sue herself), but the characters will still experience lingering feelings for their previous partners and many doubts about their new ones. Non-main characters and side characters will think highly of the Sue/Stu. It is recommended that these level Sues and Stus be confronted by teams of rookie Agents. Otherwise, a competent Agent should have no trouble with these.
Level 5[edit | edit source]
Capable of all Plothole-related skills, and can have one or two completely mastered weapons/skills/powers and will possess competency in many others. While access any ‘super-skills’ are there, they will take actual time to master. They are now considered beautiful and people will take more favorable notice of them, regardless of what they wear. Direct control of a main character is possible, though doing so will mean other characters will not be under their direct control. However, a Sue’s natural charm and persuasive skills are quite high and so they will be able to convince other characters that their way of the main character is natural - or at least make the other characters tolerate them greatly. They can break up canon pairings more easily and now get one of them to fall for the Sue and persuade the previous partner to take it in their stride. Non-main characters and side characters will think highly of the Sue/Stu. It is recommended that experienced Agents handle this level.
Level 6[edit | edit source]
Capable of all Plothole–related skills, can have several mastered skils/weapons/powers and possess high competency in many others, though using any of them in tandem will prove difficult and ‘super-skills’ can mastered to competency, though some learning by natural means is still required. They can directly control a main character and other main characters will be accepting and trusting of what the Sue says, adopting a ‘go with the flow’ attitude about whatever she does, though anything against the beliefs or morals of any characters will set off alarm bells in their heads. Non-main and side-characters will think very highly of the Sue/Stu and not be disposed towards otherwise. Canon pairing tweaking is the same as Level 5. These Sues and Stus are dangerous and only experienced Agents can handle them alone; otherwise, work in pairs.
Level 7[edit | edit source]
Capable of all Plothole-related skills, can have multiple mastered weapons/skills/powers and have a high competency in many others; using them in tandem is easier than before, though still rough. A single ‘super-skill’ can be completely mastered instantly at this level. They can directly control up to two main characters and all other characters will be very trusting of the Sue/Stu - but as with Level 6, actions directly against beliefs or morals of the main characters will set off alarm bells. Canon pairings are pretty much as the Sue wishes them to be at this point. These Sues and Stus are quite dangerous and it is recommended that they be handled in teams of two, though highly experienced Agents should be able to at least match them singly, depending on the individuals' powers.
Level 8[edit | edit source]
Capable of all Plothole-related skills, can possess multiple mastered weapons/skills/powers and have a high competency in many others, and using them in tandem now is easy. A single ‘super-skill’ can be completely mastered instantly at this level. They can directly control up to three main characters and all other characters will be very trusting off the Sue/Stu-but as with Level 6, actions directly against beliefs or morals of the main characters will set off minor alarm bells. Canon pairings are pretty much as the Sue wishes them to be at this point and they can get multiple main characters to fall in love with them if they desire. These Sues and Stus are very dangerous and should only be confronted in pairs at any experience level.
Level 9[edit | edit source]
Capable of all Plothole-related skills, can have nearly all of the weapons/skills/powers available to them mastered, and using them in tandem comes naturally. All ‘super-skills’ are theirs and more than three main characters can be controlled at any one time and actions directly against the characters' beliefs or morals will raise doubts and some questions, but they will not act directly against the Sue unless Copyrighted. Canon pairings are playthings for these level Sues and Stus. They can also exert control over other Sues and Stus, though those close to their own level may rebel or resist such efforts. These Sues and Stus are very dangerous and as only a Society Leader or Counter Guardian can match them in single combat, and they should only be engaged by a competent strike team of at least four seasoned and expereinced Agents.
Level 10[edit | edit source]
Capable of all Plothole-related skills, and will master anything they wish upon entering a fandom and can use it like second nature, super-skills or not. All main characters are easy to control and even direct actions against a character’s morals or beliefs will not raise any doubts, as they will see it as justified. All other characters will treat this Sue like they are an angel. Canon pairings are playthings and they can get multiple canon characters to fall in love with them. At this level, they are able to exert their powers easily over other Sues and Stus and control them. They are extremely dangerous and should not be engaged by anyone weaker than at least two Society Leaders backed by a strike team or a Counter Guardian.
Level 0[edit | edit source]
Although not counted in the standard scale and only existing for data purposes, it is considered that Sues and Stus who have been Permanently Prohibited class as Level 0. They are now essentially normal. None of their extraordinary powers remain, though any legitimate base powers they may have possessed may still remain in a way that is acceptable to their home fandom or original concept. The Society keep tabs on all who agree to undergo the Permanent Prohibition procedure - as it must be a willing decision - to make sure they do not suffer a relapse. Notably, three of these individuals reside in the Library.
