A Plot Device is a gadget used by Society Agents.
Description[]
Only available to authors who are currently writing fanfictions, Plot Devices are fickle items, but can prove useful from time to time (when these times are we have yet to see). They act by inserting a plotline to the fandom in order to fix part of the corrupt storyline. They can detect Sueish behaviour and attempt to correct it; however they sometimes can promote Sueishness by accident. In essence, it's like a smaller version of the Deus Ex Machina.
